Surrey Azure User Group

I currently co-run the Surrey Azure User Group based in Woking. The User Group is an opportunity for like-minded Azure Enthusiasts to get together once a month to talk about all things in Azure.

We meet monthly and usually falls on the last Tuesday of the month at the LightBox Gallery in Woking. We kick off the evening with networking and refreshments (FREE PIZZA) which is then followed by talks around Azure with questions and discussions

Our group provides a welcoming space for individuals who share a common passion for Azure, covering a wide spectrum of interests including DevOps, Big Data and Cloud Platform Architecture. Whether you’re new to Azure or have years of experience we welcome all to learn grow and move forwards together.

Matt How

Head of Data Science at Telefónica Tech UK&I talks about how Organisations of all shapes and sizes are striving for their data science and AI revolution. However, with skills being scarce and costly, the ability to approach data science and AI capabilities is critical!

This session will cover all the ways a user of the Fabric ecosystem can tackle data science and AI use cases, ranging from forecasting and AI visuals in Power BI, through AutoML and industry solutions, all the way to custom machine learning with notebooks and MLFlow. Each experience will be articulated with demos and anecdotal examples, highlighting the flexibility of the Fabric platform.

The ideal audience for this session will be data analysts, engineers and scientists looking to establish a suitable approach to AI, machine learning or data science that fits their capabilities. Attendees will leave this session with a clear understanding of the different options for delivering advanced analytics capabilities, and the types of use cases that can be delivered.

Jamie Pullinger

Senior DevOps Engineer at Telefónica Tech talks about how, as more organisations rapidly transition to the cloud, many attempt to bring their traditional on-premises processes with them. But can this approach truly work in the cloud? Is it scalable, and does it align with the demands of modern cloud environments? What are the benefits and challenges of migrating these legacy processes, and how can we apply a “cookie-cutter” methodology to deployments that fit within an agile, cloud-first world?

In this interactive session, I’ll share my experiences—highlighting the successes, the challenges, and the lessons learned along the way. We’ll open the floor for discussions on how teams have approached cloud migration/adoptions, the hurdles they’ve faced, and how templates and scaling techniques have evolved across cloud platforms.
Together, we’ll explore how classic on-premises boundaries shift in cloud operations and encourage everyone to step outside their comfort zones. Our goal is to foster a collaborative conversation about how we can rethink and optimize our cloud processes for a more agile, scalable, and innovative future.

Let’s dive into the evolving landscape of cloud, challenge conventional thinking, and work together to build stronger, more efficient cloud deployment strategies.
